http://cgi.ebay.ca/Hurricane-Category-5-Wind-Generator-Wind-Turbine-PMA-/250745573090?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item3a6199cee2 this company and their flambouyant Anti world advertising sure is annoying. Is there any way to take them down? By the sound of their advertising they are challenging the world and every electrical engineer and person that works in design and manufacture of generators to prove them wrong. this is their add.

Stop for a minute and consider taking a crisp 100$ bill and dropping in in your trash can, now consider taking another one of your fresh 100$ Bills and doing the same thing with it.....sounds crazy but that is exactly what many consumers are doing when they buy from other vendors who are selling DC motors that the windings were never meant to produce electricity in a generator capacity will never hold up, and have brushes you will not be able to replace once they are shot. These are sold purchase from vendors such as surplus center and auctioned off some times at 10 times what was paid for them. Other vendors have simply went to the auto parts store slapped a wind sticker and are selling a untouched alternator at double the price. Yet others import the cheapest PMA made in china and sell in as a "high quality" item. None of these will work or at least not for the time you need them to to make your wind generator investment pay off. This is not to say that I am the only person on e bay that sells a quality product however the last time I looked about 70% of the items listed were complete garbage...therefore I am suggesting you research thoroughly what you are actually buying and who you are buying it from.

The Category 5 Hurricane is like having 2 generators in 1 case. It has 2x the voltage output of the Cat 4

Designed for areas of the World with extremely light wind speed
Hand made in the USA
Patent Pending Dual Power Output Generator
3 charging options
Perfect for wind, hydro and marine applications
Produces power in very light wind
Comes pre-wired with 2 power cords
Includes 2 ac-dc rectifiers
Produces 12 volts at just 40-50 rpm, 24 volts at 80-100 rpm
Robust bearings and housing
Will last many years in harsh environments
No internal parts or brushes to maintain
Full 90 day replacement warranty
Full description:

The Hurricane cat 5 wind generator starts charging your battery bank at just 40-50 RPM! This PMA is like having 2 generators in 1 case It contains two of our specially wound high voltage stators and two N-42 high grade magnetic rotors. The Hurricane Cat 5 is the most efficient generator ever built for extracting energy from very light wind. Because the Cat 5 uses a dual output system, you have 3 options to choose from. You can charge 2 independent systems, double the output voltage with series wiring, or combine the current for maximum amps.
Hurricane's response to the real world watt ...this is in my opinion nothing more than a desperate attempt to make inferior imported products seem "special"...here are a few terms that you should acquaint yourself with if you plan to buy a wind turbine. It appears that some of our competitors likes to play the “Good Guy Role” ....explaining that their products produce "real world " watts and that everyone else is trying to rip you off and defraud you. It is they who should do some self examination: consider the definitions below.
Static electricity (or just "static") is the name used to cover those phenomena that involve charges that are not moving (much)-i.e. they are static. The other form of electrical phenomena is current electricity, where the charges are moving in a large-scale, organized way.
IE. Measuring watts going into a battery bank does not constitute current but a "static charge"
Wattage, Watts
A measure of the amount of work done by a certain amount or amperage of electric current at a certain pressure or Voltage
urrent

All electrical current is simply a measure of how much electricity passes a given point in a fixed amount of time. It is similar to the current of a stream or river, which measures how much water passes a given point in a fixed amount of time. Electrical current is measured in(Amps) the movement or flow of electricity.

Now that we understand the above definitions, can we agree that a "static charge" going into a battery bank is not flowing anywhere? If the battery bank was hooked to an inverter and also powering something (thus doing “work“), only then can we say we are producing “wattage” from the wind generator. Measuring open current voltage and amperage which does not “power” something is a "static reading", not a "real world watt". No work has been done in this instance. Personally if I didn’t know any more about electricity than that, I would stop making videos to "educate the public" and be embarrassed to demonstrate my lack of even a remedial knowledge of how electricity works owning a wind power company

To the consumer: Just ask any engineer or person with electrical knowledge and they will explain that these facts are indisputable. This is electricity 101.

There is no such thing as a "real world " WATT. This is just an advertising ploy and Gimmick first used by one company and now another has picked up on . There are no special real world watts nor is there anything magical about bolting a Chinese generator head to a wind generator. If I am wrong please find me an engineering textbook with the definition of a real world watt and I will be happy to retract this statement.

Are this all statements from this company ?
I remember some weeks ago there was one of this alternator videos linked into the VAWT forum.
I mean the video where you can see the very long useless copperwire coming out of threre stator.

I wonder how much resistance there wonder stator must have, 3 Ohm... 5Ohm... or more ?

Produces 12 volts at just 40-50 rpm, 24 volts at 80-100 rpm

Caused by that it must be around 10 Ohm i think. :)

I really think it is not worth to talk about this produkt. It's a pity that we always can find offers like this
where shit is presented as "the best ever ".

Edit: I find a value that this generator should have 16 Ohm and is nevertheless classified for 12 volt using.
I can't beleave that.

Hi Bernd
yes, this is the add I pulled from ebay. what a load of shit eh??

try this tool out

http://usvawt.com/cgi/altoutput.cgi

this is a tool that Steve at us vawt has designed to help design alts. you can add to his data base by giving him a url link posted to him and he will add the data of the site products
